Bracket for back rail, middle part

“To put up a shelf without sides, you need a bracket – in its simplest form just a straight diagonal brace as in traditional rural homes, or the more sophisticated version of triangular brackets into which the shelf is screwed. Adding a rail on the wall means it can hold more weight, which is more evenly distributed. This type of domestic joinery was found in kitchens provided by the Swedish housing association HSB in the 1920s. In the 1990s, this ingenious design enjoyed a renaissance thanks to Norrgavel, now able to be flexibly extended, and employed in the highest quality of furniture for the first time. Furniture attached to the wall seems to belong to the room rather than standing within the room – it keeps the floor free, retaining the volume and airiness of the space.”
